Vivienne Westwood Melissa Cherry - My Wedding Shoes!
I realise I don't post about the wedding that much on here - there's lots going on behind the scenes, but I really want lots of things to be a surprise for our guests on the day. This is incredibly hard for someone who talks for a living and also Instagrams things almost every day.
One thing I'm SO excited to share though, is part of my outfit for the day. The dress is still under wraps (I did offer a preview to the groom, but he didn't want to see it), but I've finally managed to settle on some shoes.
We have actually just been having a bit of a clear out as we'll be moving soon, and Rick was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of shoes I have. So obviously, I'm thrilled to be adding to the collection (don't worry, I did throw a few of the old collection out first).
Rock n Roll Bride
I've been thinking about shoes for a while now, and accessories in general (don't even get me started on what I'm doing with my hair, I've got no idea), but because I've been umming and ahhing over several, quite different, dresses, pairing stuff up has been difficult up until now.
Whichever dress I chose, I knew I was going to be a bit vintagey with my style, so when I saw these I knew they were the ones (which is more than I can say for the dress - but that's another story). If, like us, you're not having a traditional wedding, I can highly recommend the Rock n Roll Bride Facebook group. It's for guys and gals, and there's all sorts on there, from advice to things for sale. I'm really lucky that I spotted these on the group, as I'd never have seen them in the shops - they're sold out, and I think, discontinued (although there are other styles still available in the same range).
Vivienne Westwood Melissa
I must admit, the design of these was what caught my eye - I absolutely love the cherries, and I think sling-backs are really flattering - but the fact they're the Vivienne Westwood Melissa collab adds to the glamour for me. They were more than I wanted to pay, especially for something that's second hand, but I didn't want to miss out on them so I put an offer in and it was accepted. I've also really saved on my dress, so I thought I'd treat myself and splash out on other things.
The shoes are in really good condition; the bride I bought them from had hurt her ankle and couldn't wear them anymore. They came in the original box and I can tell they've never been worn - they even have a bit of a bubblegum smell to them. There's nothing I don't like about them!
I'm really excited about wearing them on the day, and I know they'll go with loads of other things in my wardrobe, so they're a great investment. I've always known that I didn't want a traditional bridal dress and I want to look a bit different; well, I just want something that reflects me well on the day, and I think these shoes are the perfect fit. Rock n Roll Bride has definitely helped me explore alternatives for the wedding, and my mum has encouraged my creative side, which has been great!
So, I'm pleased I've finally been able to share something wedding-related...there'll be more soon!
